Board of Trustees

The aim of the Board of Governors is for every student to strive for personal excellence in every aspect of their academic and social development. We seek to achieve this through excellence in the following areas:

  • A balanced curriculum which acknowledges God as the source of all knowledge
  • A safe, disciplined and stimulating environment
  • The active promotion of Christian morals and values
  • The development of a servant heart - seeking to serve others through leadership
  • Open and constructive communication between school and home

Our Staff

The PCS staff are led by our Principal, Mrs. Carolyn Cornu. The Senior Management team includes Ms Rochelle Pamich (Primary), Mrs Monica Fourie (Secondary) and Mrs Bendi van der Merwe (Secondary).

All of our teachers provide each student with the highest standard of education and students from Years 7-13 are taught by specialists in each subject. Regular Professional Development ensures that all staff continue to enhance and fine tune their own skills. Our staff are committed to the overall well-being of each student, not just his or her academic achievement. All PCS teachers are committed Christians and able to uphold the strong values of the school working with students to create an atmosphere of tolerance, respect and integrity.

Curriculum

Pukekohe Christian School follows the Cambridge International Curriculum from Year 1-13.

The Primary Programme develops English, Mathematics and Science skills, preparing students for Secondary Education. It is a step by step programme, providing learning objectives for each level and progression tests to assess student progress. Other subjects such as History, Physical Education, I.T. and Art are taught alongside the Cambridge Curriculum.

From Year 7, students study a broad curriculum of subjects in preparation for Checkpoint (Year 9), IGCSE (Year 11), AS (Year 12) and A Level (Year 13) examinations. This includes; Physics, Chemistry and Biology, English Literature and Language, Mathematics, Accounting, Business Studies, Art and Design, Technology, Divinity, Health and P.E., Geography, History and ICT. The Cambridge curriculum is flexible and works well with the special character of the school.

Our Community

One of the outstanding aspects of PCS is the sense of community. Within the school, older students are encouraged to help and support the younger children developing strong bonds and a raft of leadership opportunities. Parents also form an integral part of the PCS community supporting the school with camps, Duke of Edinburgh tramps, sporting events, Pet Day, Gala, Cultural day, educational trips and a wide range of other activities within the school year. All families in our community are united in creating a secure and nurturing environment where students are able to achieve their full potential in an atmosphere of respect, integrity and honour.
